Tampa Bay Agile - Lean Beer for All Things Agile (Tampa)

Thu, May 16, 6:30 PM • 12 RSVPs

📍 Cigar City Brewing Spruce Street Brewery & Taproom, 3924 W Spruce St, Tampa, FL, 33607

Lean Beer for All Things Agile (Tampa)

Tampa Bay Agile & Clearly Agile are bringing the happy hour version of Lean Coffee to your area! Drinking not required!

Our Meetup is always the 3rd Thursday every month.

Agenda:

6:30 pm: Meet and greet
7 - 8 pm: Lean Beer

What is Lean Beer?

Lean Beer is an alternative to the early morning Lean Coffees, for folks who can’t always join us at 7:30AM. Lean Beer is a great place to ask questions and share your stories of using Agile and Lean software approaches, over an adult beverage, if you choose. We discuss any topics on Agile and Lean that are of interest to whomever is gathered. You suggest the topics, then we prioritize that list democratically, through a good ole’ fashion vote. We manage our discussions via time boxes, and a Roman vote (drinks up/drinks down). Vegas rules apply!

We are a non-formal group, like to loosen our ties and roll up our sleeves at the end of a long day, and gather with other like-minded Agile Practitioners to exchange ideas and information. Come see what Lean Beer is all about and get your Agile on.

Orchestrate the chaos: Process automation in modern architectures w/ Tampa Devs

Co-hosting with Java User Group

Agenda
5:30 - 6:15: Networking w/ light refreshments
6:15 - 7:30: Sponsor intros and tech talk from Nathan
7:30 - 8:00: Closing w/ raffles
8:00 - ?: Continue conversation at nearby bar.

Abstract
Microservices, Kubernetes, and Geographically distributed applications ... OH MY! A recent (2022) poll by Kong placed the average number of microservices for a single enterprise at 184! Modern architecture patterns are great at optimizing resource usage, but what happens when you need to make a critical change to one process that spans multiple shared services?
Complex business processes can be difficult to manage and automate. How do you quickly implement changes while maintaining uptime? How do you introduce a new service to an existing process? In this talk, we will discuss how to use Business Process Modeling (BPM) to orchestrate and execute complex business processes in your application. Don't let the name fool you: this not your father's Visio diagram. Everyone should leave this talk with a new approach to solving their orchestration complexities!

Tampa Bay Women in Agile - Leading with Moral Authority: Doing the Right Thing for Your Team and Product

Thu, Jun 13, 6:30 PM • 3 RSVPs

🖥️ Online event

Leading with Moral Authority: Doing the Right Thing for Your Team and Product

Innovative and industry-leading products and services evolve from the hard work of teams that are managed with modern, strategic, and creative leadership techniques.

Unfortunately, the extractive corporate environment that many of us find ourselves in today puts immense pressure on leaders to resort to short-term, reactive, command-and-control-style approaches to interacting with their teams.

We have several options for dealing with this situation while still maintaining our moral authority, but none of them are easy. Each will require courage to do the right thing and empathy for your team members.

In this session, Nicole will share her experiences addressing the extractive business model in her workplaces. We'll also discuss how to recognize such a model in action and what we can do to offset it. You'll leave with concrete steps you can take to do the right thing in the face of corporate pressure to do the opposite.
